About The Show

Monallo is a coastal folk band that blends heartfelt songwriting, feel-good grooves, and a laid-back beach vibe into an unmistakable sound. Powered by the trio of singer-songwriter and frontman James Drakes (Monallo), drummer/percussionist Alan Jax Bowers, and bassist/guitarist Pete “Pirate Pete” Robertson, the band creates performances that are both uplifting and genuine.

Drakes has been writing and performing as Monallo since 2018, getting his start in the Pittsburgh, PA music scene. After years of touring the east coast he finally made his way down to Florida and teamed up with Bowers and Robertson in 2024. Bowers brings decades of global touring and recording experience, having performed with members of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Travis Tritt. Robertson, originally from Sydney, Australia, adds over 30 years of session and touring work, including collaborations with artists from AC/DC to Aerosmith. Together, their chemistry provides the backbone for Monallo’s warm melodies and vivid storytelling.

Monallo continues to grow a dedicated following with their laid-back yet powerful coastal folk sound. With new music, seasoned collaborators, and a clear creative vision, Monallo is carving out their place as one of today’s most exciting rising voices in coastal-inspired music.

As a former environmental scientist, monallo is passionate about the environment, with an especially soft spot for any body of water. monallo has been recognized as a Global Ambassador for the “Plastic Ocean Project” since 2018. A percentage of proceeds from all shows and album sales are donated to POP. In 2019, monallo was recognized as a BYObottle Artist, joining highly touted artists all working to make the music industry more sustainable.

We are pleased to have monallo coming to play for us this month, and really hope you plan to join us at The Habitat!

The Habitat is the private home of Ken and Heather Settlemyer who are passionate about the importance of nurturing both local plant and animal wildlife and independent musicians.

Habitat-PhotoLive Music & A Wildlife Sanctuary… The concept of the House Concert is to provide a venue where musicians can come to be heard by those whose primary intention is to listen rather than to have music in the background.

We host musicians to perform at The Habitat approximately one to two times per month, either on our outdoor stage, or on the indoor stage in the event of inclement weather or upon musician request.

We are also proud to maintain over 1/4 acre of wilderness within an urban environment, providing much needed habitat for a variety of native species.  We plant only native species and manage or eliminate the non native species in that area.  We are delighted to play host, not just to excellent musicians, but to a plethora of beautiful butterflies.

The Habitat concerts are a private event, contact us for an invite, and when you come, BYOE and a donation for the musicians.  This is completely not for profit, all donations go in entirety to the artists, some of whom will have traveled from out of state!  Food to share is always welcomed, but not required.

We respect our neighbors and all noise ordinances and time the concerts in consideration of both.  We sincerely hope you join us when you are able.

You are also welcome to stop by and ask Ken for a tour, he will be proud to show you our work in progress as we make a miniature wildlife preserve in the middle of Bradenton, a haven for bees, birds, bats and butterflies!
