About The Show…

We are pleased to finally have Heather back on our schedule!  Having appeared on the Habitat Stage a few times, both with Girlz Rule and as a Solo Artist, our regular Habitatians know she is a powerhouse of a vocalist, an engaging storyteller, and

About Heather… (my second favourite Heather!)

Heather Vidal began studying music in a classical setting as a vocal major and was a member of the #1 jazz choir in the country.  Singing with the likes of Chick Corea, Sarah Vaughn, and other jazz greats, she perfected her skills with melody as well as harmony.  But her passion for folk, rock, and blues led her into live performances in bars, festivals, house concerts, etc., as she realized music would become her career.

After a three year tour with a successful rock band, Heather formed a duo called Copper Sky which lasted 25 years.  Those years with her partner taught her how to connect on a personal level with the audience and entertain with both music and fun.

Throughout her career, she has collaborated with several musicians in a variety of genres.  Little did she know that by keeping her mind open to different styles, it would help guide her into her own songwriting.   Along with her original music, Heather has an ability to interpret other writer’s material while honoring the artist’s message.   She truly is a “professional cat herder” and commands an audience by entertaining through her humor and storytelling.

Heather travels extensively during the year performing throughout the mid-Atlantic region, Ireland, Colorado, and Key West.  She connects with people everywhere she goes with the help of her soulful voice and legitimate guitar playing.  She has become a regular “house concert” performer throughout the United States which allows her to share her time and music with friends in a more personal and meaningful setting.

The Habitat is the private home of Ken and Heather Settlemyer who are passionate about the importance of nurturing both local plant and animal wildlife and independent musicians.

Habitat-PhotoLive Music & A Wildlife Sanctuary… The concept of the House Concert is to provide a venue where musicians can come to be heard by those whose primary intention is to listen rather than to have music in the background.

We host musicians to perform at The Habitat approximately one to two times per month, either on our outdoor stage, or on the indoor stage in the event of inclement weather or upon musician request.

We are also proud to maintain over 1/4 acre of wilderness within an urban environment, providing much needed habitat for a variety of native species.  We plant only native species and manage or eliminate the non native species in that area.  We are delighted to play host, not just to excellent musicians, but to a plethora of beautiful butterflies.

The Habitat concerts are a private event, contact us for an invite, and when you come, BYOE and a donation for the musicians.  This is completely not for profit, all donations go in entirety to the artists, some of whom will have traveled from out of state!  Food to share is always welcomed, but not required.

We respect our neighbors and all noise ordinances and time the concerts in consideration of both.  We sincerely hope you join us when you are able.

You are also welcome to stop by and ask Ken for a tour, he will be proud to show you our work in progress as we make a miniature wildlife preserve in the middle of Bradenton, a haven for bees, birds, bats and butterflies!
